Hi,

Greetings Everyone,

Please help me buy a new motherboard! my old one is gone (intel 102GGc2)

My current specs are

1. 500 GB SATA HDD,

2. 1.5 GB DDR2 RAM, 533 MHz

3. Intel Pentium D dual core 2.66 GHz processor

My requirements in the new motherboard are,

1. HDMI, HD Video Support (i want to watch HD movies and also record from TV tuner card)

2. 5.1 Surround sound audio

3. Built in Graphics card (or is it called video card)

in my previous mobo, i had ATI onboard graphics 128 MB probably, if i can get more than this it will be better)

4. Support upto 16 GB DDR3 RAM with good speed and backward compatible with DDR2

i have already 1.5 GB DDR2 RAM and if the mobo is backward compatible it will be very helpful for me.

5. Support for PCI express 2

i want to add TV tuner card (i already have), separate Graphics card (not yet brought) and other things which may be supported.

6. Support for Intel pentium D (my current processor) and i5 processor

The mobo should be future proof as i would be upgrading to i5 probably a year later.

7. Support 4 SATA HDD (i have 4 hard disks all SATA)

8. support USB 2.00 (and 3 maybe), upto 8 Slots or 6 slots supported

9. Serial mouse and keyboard

I will be using this computer for learning photoshop, Corel draw, Blender 3D, Maya and 3d max. I will use this computer to watch HD Videos and for listening to music, and internet browsing and downloading.

I would request any of you to kindly help me in this matter. I tried to find data but couldn't find properly. It will be very helpful if i get answers from you.

my budget is 6000 to 7000 INR (indian rupees) which roughly equals 120 $ to 140 $.

if any of you want to contact me through mail you can please do so. my e-mail id is jaget@myopera.com.

Thanks in advance and sorry for this long letter.

God bless you all!!!

Hi, Greetings,

Thanks for the reply, i checked the configuration of your suggested motherboard and i am quite happy with it. But its not available at my locality. I checked 5 shops in bangalore and couldn't find this board.

Thanks for the reply, do you have any other suggestions. Thank you very much.

Jagmint,

There is no board out there that is going to meet your requirements. The Pentium D processor that you have works only with LGA 775 boards (and not all that many of them), if you want to upgrade to an i5 you are going to need to get a new board at that time (Socket 1155). I have a Pentium D 820 myself and my board died last year, I had a terrible time trying to find a replacement for it, the only brand new board I was able to find that was compatible with it was this:

http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3590#

With your budget you can probably go ahead and get some ram to go with the board, but you can only put 4 gb in this board. It also does not have hdmi, so you will need to get a video card if you want that capability. Unfortunately with that processor you just do not have many options.

Hi kinnakattak

Thanks for your help. Ya my system is old and right now i won't be buying new one. Thanks for letting me know that i cannot use my old processor with i5 motherboards.

I have to see which board is available in the market. There are lots of boards, all for the latest processors i believe. In the market its difficult getting motherboards for older systems.

Thanks for your help.

sorry for posting this once again
