I had seen a video recently (last night) concerning PSUs by a guy with an OC'd single GPU rig. He was using a 500W 80+Gold, and while I still think a higher wattage would be helpful when doing a lot of gaming, 500W would do you just fine. NewEgg has several 5-600W PSUs 80+Gold starting at $60 USD.

For an AMD GPU, the R9 270/270X should be just fine. My R7 260X works very well for the games that I run on a QHD monitor. (Don't care about actual FPS, but with the Omega driver, hasn't had any stuttering in Skyrim at max■) If you do go AMD, The R9 270X (and my R7 260X) will have FreeSync on the next driver release.

[Correction: Skyrim settings are on High with AA/AF tweaked, options enabled and some sliders set to about 80%]

As I said, I don't care much about the FPS, just that there isn't any noticeable, to me, stuttering, but I did just install Skyrim Performance Monitor from Nexus, and ran from the top of a cleared Inalta's Tower up to and through a just discovered Brittleshin Pass. (Killed everything, though there wasn't much, and looted most.)

Asus R7 260X Factory OC: (max/min/avg)
FPS: 60/18/54 - The Realistic flames mod on the scene break is a killer. Actual gameplay saw a min of 48
GPU%: 100/1/66
GPU C: 83/61/78
vRAM: 1306/249/1163

CPU%: 18/1/9 - i7 - 4770S (yes, the 65W SKU)

Skyrim HD - 2K Textures (mods and 3 HighResTexturePackxx plugins)

Monitor: AOC Q2770PQU (Was a shell-shocker for just under $500, while there were some quirks with the DP connection, the Omega driver has smoothed those out)

PS: The R7 is going into my next build, eventually

And when I said on Max, I was wrong, I hadn't been in the options in a long time:
AA:4x
AF:16x
Texture & Radial Blur: Meximum
Item Fade distance is max
Everything else set to High or is checked

Gonna see what this looks like at Ultra everything (There was significant pauses and stutters at ultra, mostly in the wide open outdoors, but some in Inalta and Brittleshins. Going back to High, and increase some sliders to what they were.)

What if i get a gtx 760 instead with a 550w psu? Is the gtx 760 worth buying now? Note: In my country the r9 270x,gtx760 costs about the same but the gtx 750ti has a very less price. But i have the money to buy gtx 760 so should i buy it or is there any alternative which is available in india? Also please keep in mind that the gpu has to be compaitable with my curent specs. Thanks

A 500w PSU is enough for almost all single GPU cards. Don't worry about having problems; it is enough. Also, its not worth geting a GTX 760 when you could get the newer 960. I would say to just stick with an R9 270 and the 500w PSU. You'll be fine.
