Hey, so help me decide between those two systems... I use my PC mainly for gaming and this build is supposed to last me for the next 5 years or so... I am very worried about Ryzen compared to intel in the long-term.

I will also use my computer for really heavy tasks aside from gaming which is why I thought the i7 is great.
Nonetheless someone offered me two different builds and I'd like your help:

Intel based:

CPU - Intel i7-7700k + Arctic Cooling Freezer i11
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-Z170XP
Case - Cougar MX330 Mid-Tower + NE550M
Memory - 2x DDR4 8G / 2133 CL14 Crucial Single ranked(total 16GB)
GPU - Palit GeForce GTX 1070 JETSTREAM 8GB GDDR5 VR Ready
Hard drive - Seagate HDD 1.0TB 65mb SATA3 Barracuda 1

AMD based:

CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 1600 AM4 BOX
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-A320M-DS2
Case - Cougar MX330 Mid-Tower + NE550M
Memory - 2x DDR4 8G / 2133 CL14 Crucial Single ranked(total 16GB)
GPU - Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1080 G1 Gaming 8GB GDDR5X 2560 Core VR Ready
Hard drive - Seagate HDD 1.0TB 65mb SATA3 Barracuda 1

So I know the GPU is better on AMD but I feel like the CPU is really slower than the Intel, won't I have bottlenecking? Can someone offer me something else? Thanks.

I just wonder if cannon lake will be 1151. AM4 should support zen 2 and probably zen 3. I suggest waiting till coffee lake is out and maybe compare ti to the 1700 8 core. I think AMD will change its prices to the 1700 around the i5-8600k coffee lake.

Is this https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813144028 inexpensive? That is an ideal solution for the 1600x. Oh, an X. That means the CPU is very OC friendly but doesn't come with its own CPU cooler.

Those are a few cooling solutions. The regular 1600 comes with its own cooler. The case you choose will of course need to be wide enough for those coolers.

The motherboard has the extra power and cooling needed for safe OC'ing which when you watch some videos or read some guides is fairly simple.

Ryzen is fairly picky when it comes to RAM. I'd not buy a Ryzen build with any less than 16GB of RAM. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104740 or https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232394 are a couple options.

The Evo is a good cooler. Also, on the cpu, the 1600x is a fine cpu, but look at the 1600. It's unlocked for overclocking as well. A lot of videos suggest getting it over the 1600x saying it should overclock almost as well as the 1600x. But the x models are supposed to be binned little higher. Which just means they theoretically should have a little more overclocking head room. Most ryzen CPUs top out around 4ghz anyway, so if you get a couple that does 3.9, there is likely not much difference in those numbers.

Guys im definitely torn apart by this. I don't know what to purchase.

I use most of my time online on chrome, and I game every now and then(daily). I'm worried that the i7-7700k won't provide a better experience for me.

I currently have the i5-2500(non-k) and it's having a very hard time having both tabs and games open at the same time, it's takes some time if I want to put on music while I game... and, well, I was hoping the i7-7700k will be enough to solve that.

I initially looked after an i5 and then I realized that the i7 would be better for multi-tasking because more threads... but this made me worry that it's still not enough compared to Ryzen.

On the other side, I definitely want top gaming performance and I'm worried the 1600 will bottleneck or won't be good enough with the 1080. I definitely want to be able to play top games and I'm not sure the 1600 will be strong enough for that.

I'm wondering how the 1600 compares to the i5-2500 that I currently have. Will I see a dramatic increase in performance? I hate having 100% CPU usage all the time.

The intel is 55% which is significantly better than 25%(the ryzen)

Really makes me quander about what to buy.

Hence why i suggested the next Intel in the beginning. It will not only be faster but also similar in core/thread as 1600, but with better performance.
