Hi have just finished building my first computer but when i start it the fans, cpu fan and psu work but nothing is displayed on the screen... And there is a red led thats shines in a red color. Under the led it says ''DRAM_LED''. I have tried switching the ram memories and tested with just one but nothing will work... Please help me!

Motherboard: m5a97 R2.0

The CPU requires the 1006 BIOS version. There's a barcode sticker on the bord. The last 4 digits stand for the board's BIOS version.

There is only one four digit number on the board and that is 1302.

The CPU is supported.
Try testing the board outside the case. Start it with only CPU, CPU fan and single RAM stick installed. See if still red DRAM led.

I have tried doing that now and the red led still flashes at startup.

When i press the MEMOK! button for 3 secs it flashed and then the red light disapperas. Nothing will happen on the screen though. But when i restart the motherboard the red DRAM_LED still flashes.

Is it the same with single RAM stick in any slot?
Is there a backplate installed for the CPU fan?

It is the same with 1 stick in any slot and i have tried it with both sticks. I dont know if there is a backplate for the cpu fan.

What CPU fan using?
At this point I see these options:
-try clearing the CMOS (unplug the power cord and remove the CMOS battery for few minutes) If still the same,
-try using the flashback for flashing the BIOS with the latest version (make sure you rename the downloaded and unzipped file from ASUS - check the manual for the name, use a FAT formatted USB stick and insert it in the Flashback USB port)
-if still the same, borrow a RAM stick and test
-try also reseating the CPU.
If still no go, I would RMA the board and the CPU.
