I have spent about 500 dollars trying to figure out why my computer is not working properly.

I called AMD the other day and they told me the reason my screen kept going black is because my GPU was dying. So I bought a R9 390x to replace my R9 280x. Same problem occurred. So I assumed it was a power issue, so I bought a new PSU... nothing it kept doing the same thing. I then think it's a problem with my motherboard, I end up removing my graphics card and hook up my DVI to the motherboard integrated graphics, it works perfectly. Then the final thing I did was uninstall the video drivers... the computer now works fine. Problem is it only works without the amd video drivers installed. Right now I have everything hooked up and is working perfectly, just looks ugly.

Symptoms I have discovered. Right before/after the AMD video drivers are installed the following happens

-Screen goes black.
-GPU fans stop spinning.
-GPU starts to heat up.

Same thing with the 280x.

My computer specs
gigabyte Z97x gaming 3
Intel i5-4670k
16gb Ram
SSD 250gb
HDD 1TB
R9 390x or 280x.
Windows 10 pro

Help me solve this please. Ask for any further info please. Bios is up to date.

They don't. They have embedded video drivers, and I don't think that windows 10 can even read those old drivers.

What do you mean "embedded drivers"? I can't vouch for 390 but 280 can work with as far as 15.6 drivers on W 10. As long as they are WDM, windows 10 will not change them for newer ones.

Well what I mean is the display drivers won't show up during initial setup so I can't install them if I even wanted to. And I just really need someone to understand my situation. I have been researching and my problem is really isolated. It only happens to a few people and they don't bother reporting it to amd. This all started after I installed the latest amd drivers on my 280x and then uninstalled them with the utility amd provides.

i managed to install it, and the same thing happened, as soon as the amd display drivers install my screen goes black.
