PLEASE HELP ME....I am deciding between two laptop...and i can't make decision...
1. HP DV6-3210
4GB DDR3
AMD Phenom II Dual-Core Mobile N660 Processor 3.0
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 Graphics
500GB HD
----I love it's led quality and SURROUND SOUND...

2. Acer 5742-6674
Acer AS5742-6674 w/ i3-380m Processor, 500GB Hard Drive, 4GB Memory 2.53GHz

It has greater battery life
but the bad thing is that this acer's speaker really bad...only one speaker...the led is not as good...

the bottom line of my question...
Is AMD Phenom N660 better than Intel i3 380?
should i buy acer because it has a intel i3 processor....or, the phenom N660 3.0 is better than i3 m380

Please HELP ME....I need to make decision ASAP...

I3 is a little higher ranked http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmarklist.2436.0.html but it is not by that much that the ++ with the AMD system would not outweigh it.

What are the support on both? Remember support is one of the important things that's overlooked on a laptop.

What are your intended use for it

The HP DV6 3210 AMD N660 Phenom is from staple, which is 483 included tax. (it's 14 days return and 1 year of manufacture warranty)

The Acer AS5742-6674 w/ i3-380m Processor, 500GB Hard Drive, 4GB Memory 2.53GHz

It is from Costco For 542 Included Tax. (It is 90 days return and 3 years of manufacture warranty)...

I used it mainly for school, around 7 hours per day---( I am serious..lol..powerpoint and surf the net), and I will watch Movies for relaxation....
As, for game....i think both laptops is around the same, but i don't expect anything great graphic stuff from both laptop...

If it were me, what will you choice?

Go for the longer warranty and faster CPU!

I have had two laptop motherboards replaced in the past, both had 3 year warranty a HP failed after 35 months and a week, a Dell failed after 34 months!

The HP is long gone (sold) was a PIII. was a $2800 computer! The dell (p4) is still around 4 years and 8 months after the motherboard replacement.

You will be much better off with the i3 in terms of power consumption and reliability. Since extreme performance is not a pre requisite, go with the intel.
