My current ram will only operate at 333 mhz, and i am trying to run my 3200+ witht his until i can purchae new ram. Does anyone knoew what ic ans et the cpu multiplier to, to get max. performance and good stability?
its currntly 11.0, so 11.0 x 166 = 1826 mhz
if i set the multiplier to 13.0 (2.17 mhz), will it run stabally? can i put it any higher? or if it cant run stabally at thsi sped, what is the highest i can haveit?
thanks for your help! :D

i'm new here, but i don't think you can up the mult on that CPU. it should be locked.

stability... run prime95 to find out if its stable or not. you need the ram, is all i got to say. right now, you're running lower speeds because of the FSB, not the mult. like i said, i'm new here so i don't know jack, but the only way you can run a higher speed than stock is by OCing the system, not the cpu.

i don't know.... i'm prolly all wrong. wait for a member who knows what they are talking about.

btw, the fsb has a lot to do with the NB so it could be different on each mobo, no?

Do you have an Athlon XP 3200+ or an Athlon64 3200+? The Athlon XP's are unlocked if you have the right chipset, but I don't think the Athlon 64's are unlocked. I could be wrong, though. I have an AXP 3000+ with an nForce2 motherboard and it is unlocked.

The newer AthlonXP's are locked, but the Athlon64 has the lower multipliers unlocked. And it's obvious that he has the AthlonXP since the AthlonXP 3200+ is 11x200, while Athlon64 3200+ is 10x200.

Unless you have an older chip, sammy is right. You would probably be just as well off if you set your ram speed to by spd or auto, and run your chip with asyncronous memory.
You could also see how fast your ram can run, by upping it's speed in small incraments. You might be able to get close to 200 by slacking off on the mem timings. Give us some info on the type of ram, and cas latencies, and we may be able to help more.

Mobo : msi k7m2 delta ilsr (nforce2 ultra400 chipset)
ram : kingston value ram ddr400 pc3200 1 gig (2x512)
processor : athlon xp 3200+ retail boxed, not sure on whether its older or newer.. :(

Running the ram by SPD runs it at 400 mhz, but its unstable. I used the same ram with an other 400 mhz nforce 2 board by SPD a 400 mhz with a 3000+ (which needs a 166 fsb to run) and the same thing happens... windows errors, random restarts, bluescreen errors. Running at 333 on auto is fine though.

>Wie geht es einen

Euh.. come again ? Did you try literally translating "how does one do?" or something ? :)

Heh, actually that's exactly how it's said. Wie geht es ihnen is "proper" for "how's it going" and translates litterally as "how go it you". It's often abreviated for informal speaking as "Wie gehts" (maybe there's a hyphen in gehts, like "geht's"), which translates littlerally as "how goes".

yop, looks like the ram. go into the bios and set the timings yourself: 3-5-5-5-11 just to test it out

see what happens. and let us know

Ich bin sehr gut. Deutchen fraulin bin sehr schon.
bah...I don't rememember...I shoulda paid more attention and actually used it a bit back in the day.
guten tag meinen freunden
bah I think I will only use German in emergency situations from now on.
"comst du, hund" works well for dogs though--the force and depth of the german added to the inpolite form really puts those doggies in their place and makes em come up front and center (goose stepping) lol :)

i dont really understand this stepping, im a complete newbie... what would changing the ram timing do? and what do the numbers correspond to in 3-5-5-5-11? :/

Let the memory timings stay on AUTO. MSI's undervolt a little so set your VDIMM to 2.7vdc. That should help. XP's tend to like slow first clocks so you could move it to 4,3,3,4 or even 7,3,3,4 and see how that works with a 200mhz FSB. Voltage first, timings second.
