Ryzen 5 1600 (240 AIO liquid cooled)
MSI B450M Gamer
GSkill FlareX 3200 16GB
MSI Radeon Vega 56 /w Samsung RAM
SoundBlaster Z
Corsair CX650

Everythings stock right now and I can't find Wattman anywhere in the adrenaline control panel. I also can't get more than 4.6 out of my CPU without freezing. Can someone walk me through what I need to do please. Thanks in advance.

For the GPU you could flash the bios to a 64 if you want the most performance. Or you can just underclock it with higher freqs. Here is mine, I could run it higher but this is the most stable for me. I would guess that flashing gives you 5-10% more performance (OC'd), at the cost of more Watts ofcourse. The samsung Vram also can go to around 910 MHz without flash.

Just make sure you stress test it with Heaven or something.

Thanks for all the replies. I just wanted so badly when I bought it new to get it to 4.8 and I've tried everything. I pulled the trigger on a used R5 3600X no box or cooler just now. Got it for $180. I'll post back when I get it installed. Also I read that flashing a vega to 64 could damage the hdmi port which I'm using. Is this true and how do I get to Wattman from this newer Adrenaline control center? I'm not familiar with it since upgrading from a nvidia card.

With the 1600 you'd be doing well too get 4ghz I think. My 1700x seems to look being at 3.8ghz. But that's without a lot of extra voltage, and on a b350 board as well.

The 3600x from what I've read, at stock basically equals an i7 8700k. Not sure how much overclock you can get, but that should get you started.

I don't think 4.6 is possible for a stable overclock.I can get my R5 2600 to 4.2ghz on 1.375v i May get 4.3ghz on 1.4v but not worth the risk. Why i say it's not possible even on liquid nitrogen it's hard to achieve that i think highest ryzen i have seen was de8auer with a 5.5ghz oc.That was on liquid nitrogen.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm now getting BSOD's. I turned off all the auto overclocking features and just set it to 3.8 and it doesn't blue screen anymore. Do I need to just find the highest stable clock and voltage and just leave it?

Id say you just ought to be happy with its base proformace before you end up frying the chip and then you wont have nothing to OC.. the speeds your trying to achieve I doubt youll get without extreme cooling and high risk of damage .

I got a Coolermaster lite 240 on it, should be able to handle some OCing.

I thought you said earlier that you got a used 3600x. Set it to stock setting and leave it. According to AMD, that cpu runs stock at 3.8ghz, and will boost to 4.4ghz at max boost clock.

If you don't know about computers, you should leave it alone. Just be thankful you didn't fry anything.

The good thing for you is the 3600x is clocked a little higher anyway from the factory. So you should be set with it.

I know I've overclocked my 1700x, but I was a bit conservative and tried to watch voltages and stress test during the steps. For example I started at 3.9 to 4ghz. When I saw that things weren't stable even with a little extra voltage, I backed off to where I am and actually was able to lower my voltage a little so my temps are staying in check. But then again, I've worked on computers since I was 17. I'm 39 now. Wow that's been a while lol.

I think the auto-boosting modes was blue screening it so I just turn them all off and set it to 3.8 to see if it would stop blue screening and it hasn't done it since. I can play Remnants of the Ashes on Ultra 1440 @60FPS now so I'm happy. Thanks for all the help!
