[SOLVED] please help me pick an external monitor

so i have a laptop and think that i have to get an external monitor. but im so confused. so my laptop is 1080p 60hz, and i have 2 different monitors in my list.

1440p 144hz monitor vs 1080p 144hz

the rest specs are the same. my question is that if i decide to get the 1440p one, is it possible to have 2 different reso or the 1440p one will have to work at 1080p? or should i just get the 1080p one?

Yes you can have different resolutions for different displays. If your laptop can run an external monitor at 144hz depends on the laptop model, you need to look at the specifications and maybe contact vendor support to ask them.
