While you may get an answer here, this site is primarily dedicated to computer hardware. You may have more timely and better results by locating and posting in a photography-oriented forum, or possibly by contacting Nikon technical support.
My best non-expert guess is that for some reason your camera is not able to control the lens. If your lens is detachable, you may try removing it, making sure any contacts on it are clean, then re-attaching it.
