Hi guys, I've been asking this question a lot to my tech friends, and they could never ever answer me properly, either I'm not explaining myself properly or they are not the techies I need. Here's my question most of my games I play is at 2024x1152 or whatever that setting number is, you know what I mean. Am I playing at a higher resolution than that if 1080? Clearly the number is higher but does that mean it's HD? I really wrack my brains over this because every time games are benchmarked they use 1920x1080 and when I use that setting it looks like crap, BUT my video card is crap compared to those that are tested..and I KNOW FOR A FACT , my computer hardware is no where near as nice as the rigs tested...so what gives? How the hell is my computer running games at 2024x1152? One friend suggested ppl no longer play on monitors they play on tvs..so would my computer blow up if I tried those settings on a TV?! So confusing..and what does it mean to "record" at 1080? I'm playing at 1152? Isn't that the same as recording it? Recording meaning they upload to YouTube or whatever right? Thanks guys in advance please be gentle with your replies and help me understand all this 1920x1080 2024x1152 talk to me like I know nothing of video cards and resolutions :)

Yes, there are only 2 HD resolutions. Then there's WQHD & UHD. Your monitors native resolution is 2048x1152, that's 13.7% more pixels than 1920x1080, however - it's not officially an HD resolution. At this resolution, your games look better than 1920x1080. However, resolution is the least important spec in a monitor, after 1080 got mainstream, when it comes to the actual picture quality.
ok so you mean 720 and 1080 are the ONLY HD resolutions? so by me gaming at 1152...am I not benefiting from the HD quality of the game than? is that what It means? and what do you mean by native resolution? I have a Samsung SyncMaster 2343... what is my native resolution? thanks again!
