I have had 2 consecutive Sapphire cards in my system and I'm happy with them. The best thing to do is to use the newegg "compare" feature. It'll list the specs side by side to give you a rough idea of which one might offer a little more performance.

The other thing I would do is read the reviews. Especially the bad ones. You're going to find people talk about how their card was DOA or how it died after 2 months, but you're going to find that on EVERY card. What you want to look for are things like it was too loud, it didn't fit in my case, etc. Then look at the reviews and try to determine which one is better.

For a power supply here are a couple to pick from.

I would recommend the second one. I couldn't find anything in the 501W-550W range that was cheaper that I could recommend. Sure there are a few 550W or 520W PSUs out there under $50, but I'm going by the rule that you never buy a cheap brand power supply.

honestly zero55, i would go with that combo that you posted earlier. i think for your needs it should work well. the corsair 600w and hd 6850. those are both reliable brands and seem to fit your needs pretty well. what resolution are you running?

i do like the idea of a modular power supply but is it worth the extra couple bucks.

and what are the 12v rails for? the 6 pin gpu?

and i should just go with this?

i think if i were in your shoes thats what i would get. it should do well. and that psu has plenty of watts on the 12v+ to support that graphics card.

and at 1366x768 id say this card would perform real well

Yup. I agree with this. I was looking for a good combo deal earlier. Seems like you found one. And it is only $5 more than what you wanted to spend before rebates and with rebates you'll be at $180. Definitely a good deal. (And Dirt 3 is free)

The power supply numbers don't mean much to me unfortunately. All I know is a 600W power supply is going to come with the connections you need to power your stuff.

Modular power supplies are nice, but they typically cost a bit more than the same non-modular power supply. I just put together a new PC for $999.37. I don't have a modular power supply.

My guess is if you're buying an off brand power supply checking those numbers might mean something, but that's pure speculation on my part. I just know a Corsair 600W power supply should have no problems in your build.
