So I purchased a "gamer PC" about a year ago, knowing nothing about computers as far as gaming components are concerned. I've since found that this computer (while decent in and of itself) is not the front runner of gaming PC's is claimed to be at the time. I don't know a lot about current ideal specs so i'm really looking to learn so I can help myself in the future and keep my PC up to date.

My current specs are attached below. My budget is about $1000 as of now. I play lots of rpgs and MMOs as well as casual gaming like minecraft and rhythm games, Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If I've omitted any important information please let me know. Thank you in advance.

Well sure there is, it will be useful for light gaming. You could put a $150 GTX 1050 Ti in there (again, don't know your current GPU) and call it a day. But it will still be limited by the older CPU.

No way you should spend $1000 on it. $150 max on a GPU. Anything more would get bottlenecked too much to be worth it. Not much else you can do to it.

That gives me some idea. Would be nice to know what video card you had. Either way, the best thing you could do is sell that PC and build a new one. Or build a new one then sell that one; however you want to do it. If you don't know how to build one it's quite simple really and easy to learn.

Your current CPU/Motherboard is an old socket that does not have a newer/faster CPU available.

You might have to add some to your budget for the Operating System, but something like this would be much better than trying to upgrade your current system. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

I see. I wondered why I had such issue finding compatible parts for it (why I sought help on this forum to begin with.) Thank you so much for your help. I truly appreciate your time.
