PLEASE HELP ME!!!

I did a windows repair installation on a dell laptop running MS Windows home edition, due to some hard drive problems, and when i tried installing a downloaded SP2, the SP2 installation aborted itself both times I tried. The only solution MS could give me for the error was to install SP2......


Please help me!!!

The SP2 was downloaded from softpedia.

the windows firewall/security center icons are in the control panel, but it says for firewall "due to an unidentified problem windows firewall cannotlay settings, and similar for the security center...

Did you have SP2 before trying the repair installation? If you're having hard drive problems, reinstalling Windows probably won't help. What exactly was the issue?

What error does the SP2 install give you?

I would back up your data and use Dell's software to completely wipe the system and reinstall fresh.
