please help me

hi my name is karl, im having serious issues with my pc, whenever i try to open anything it trys to open it as a .lnk file with a open / save / save as options menu

also all of my icons are now internet explorer icons

i have no idea how this happened or how to fix it, please help, thank you

Sounds like a malware/registry problem. I found this for you, sounds like it is somewhat common.
But 1st, try using system restore to a couple weeks before you had any problems and run a virus and/or malware scan.

If you do try to fix the registry, follow the instruction exactly.

(There are always bad people trying to mess with you mixed in with the good people, but these site "seem" pretty straight forward) Be careful to use the procedure for you OS, W XP or W7. It can't hurt to run a scan on any specific files you download before you run them...

Start>Accessories> System Tools>System restore. Hopefully you had it "on". If not, run the virus/malware scan and then let me know what OS/computer you have and we can figure out your best route from here if the scan doesn't fix it!
