Hello guys and girls unfortunately I am having an issue with my gaming pc ( sorry if this is in the wrong section I don't know where it should go )

So...
Every now and again ( 6-7 out of 10 times ) when I go to shutdown I get a window pop up it says

The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000008) occurred in the application at location 0x00007FFED9D88C6A.

Click on OK to terminate the program

The window is flickering as if it is trying to close but being reopened straight away ( if you know what I mean )

If I click " OK " sometimes the window goes away And then my pc just hangs trying to shutdown or it will take me to the login screen and if I click power symbol and select shutdown it will just hang while the little dots are spinning in a circle, I have left it over night only to come back and see it STILL trying to shutdown 🙁

Everything on my pc seems to work perfectly fine except when shutting down.

I am willing to try pretty much anything ( hopefully not have to do clean install of windows )

ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED BIG TIME

OS- Windows 10 Pro
GPU - gtx1070 8gb Asus strix
CPU - i7 6700k 4.0GHz
MotherBoard - Gigabyte GA-Z170x-Gaming 7
RAM- corsair vengeance LPX 16gb (2x8gb) DDR4 3000MHz
Main Drive - Intel 540s 1TB SATA III
2nd Drive - Seagate ST2000 2TB SATA 3
PSU- Cooler Master V650 650W 80+ Gold fully modular

What program did you install just before noticing this problem? Most likely that is the issue. It also might be something corrupt in your windows registry causing the issue. I would download ccleaner and run a registry scan to see if it finds any issues and repair if it comes up with anything not correct in the system registry.

Thank you for your answer, I downloaded and ran ccleaner and it did find a lot ( over 100 ) things wrong and fixed all of them, unfortunately my pc is still hanging on shutdown ( have waited about 5 full minutes - used stopwatch ) and still says shutting down with little dots going in circle.

I honestly would not know what program I installed before noticing this issue unfortunately 🙁 since it has been happening on and off for a few months ( I know I should have done something about it right away ) and I have installed lots of programs/games since then.

When it is hanging on the shutdown screen ( blank screen with nothing else but " shutting down " and dots rotating ) if I hit Ctr + alt + del then select cancel it shutsdown straight away ( not even 2 seconds ) any ideas about why it does that?

I MAY have found a solution

I turned of USB selective suspend and also fast startup and so far I have been able to successfully shutdown 3 times without it hanging, I will post back in a couple days to update

I am not a expert in this issue as I never faced it but there is way reinstall windows that may fix it. It seems like some program deleted some windows files and one advice stay away from cleaning apps do not install any unnecessary apps and don't give them adminstrator permission it will than have access to your Windows files and if the program has virus it will than have access to you windows folder which is bad. I'll advice do a boot time fresh windows install if the problem is still there inform in this forum.
