my psu is 400 watt.
can Nnvidia7900 gt run on my pc?
can Nnvidia 9400 gt run on my pc?
motherboard : intel original d945 (PCI-E)
Processor: 3.00 Ghz Pentium 4
Ram: 1.5 GB 😱
resolution: 1024*768 and 32 bit
i want to play GTA IV, prince of persia , kung fu panda, gears of war and crysis.
my budget is low.
And don't tell me to buy ATI graphic card, because they are not available where i am living. 😴

Not sure. First, not all 400W PSUs are equal. There is a big difference between the one your using and the Corsair 400W. Seeing as you have a power hunger P4 and the PSU is several years old, it might not have enough to power higher draw cards. I'm not sure which of those two you listed draws the most. I'm also not sure which of the two cards you listed is faster.

If I was you, I'd figure out how many amps your PSU puts out on the 12V rail. Knock a couple off for the aged PSU, then buy a card that doesn't exceed that number. For example, if your 400W PSU has 17A on the 12V rail, don't get a card that needs more the 15A.

@ tarun 027: The 9400 will be no problem, but I am not sure of the 7900, it uses a lot more power and your CPU uses a lot of power as well.

I would say look for the 9400/9500GT or even 9600GSO rather than a 7900, the older 7900 cards burn a lot of power for their performance and could cause problems if your powersupply is of poor quality and old.

Sorry mate but I have to question the validity of that power chart, it has the 7900GT @48w under load and SLI'd @98w and OC'd 8800GT's using less power than standard ones. Here's a link to help with the onging confusion surrounding how much power a Graphic card uses. 😉

Your link is also helpful but this whole subject seems to be getting out of hand with contradictory information abounding.
