I took apart my old stock PSU and I just installed my fully modular PSU into my desktop. I've gone over the steps and watched tutorials on youtube over and over again. I haven't tried the paperclip test since my pins aren't colored but I have connected it to the motherboard and tried turning the power on. To clarify I've connected my PSU to everything which means it does have things attached to it in order to ensure it's not a PSU that only turns on if it has applications on it. Is there something dumb that I'm missing? If there's any specific pictures or details you guys want please ask and I'll try and provide you it.

*EDIT I just tried the paperclip test and it worked now

Just trying to figure out how to get it working on the motherboard now.

Yeah, I've tried basically every outlet I have in my room. Side note, all of my outlets work for everything else including my old stock PSU. I don't get why my PSU would pass the paperclip test but not work on this motherboard.
Can you upload 2-3 pics of your mobo connections with psu? It will make it easy to understand the issue

All your cables fully connected on both ends (PSU and mobo/devices)?
I can't confirm but I've taken them off and on again multiple times to make sure. However, with that being said both my stock PSU and new PSU don't seem to work when I attach it to the motherboard so I'm still trying to figure out if I'm not plugging something in.

How many plugs are you putting on the motherboard (what motherboard / psu / cpu)?
Not sure if this answers your question fully.

2 plugs, one 24 pin and a 4 pin labeled CPU. My motherboard is some stock one that came with my desktop I'm not sure what it is and my CPU is an Intel i5 8400 LGA 1151 and last my PSU is a Corsair 650x fully modular

Sorry if these pictures aren't good enough/messy just ask for any clarifications or more pictures. *For some reason some of the pictures are getting cut off and not even posted ( I don't know how to upload pictures properly on this website). The URL links should work though.

I think I may have found the issue. My CPU isn't supported by my MOBA. I thought my MOBA would at least light up/make a sound. Same thing with my PSU thought it would turn on. I guess I'll find out tomorrow with a new CPU.

You'll need to figure out what motherboard, if it's a brand name like Dell or HP or Sony and came with the desktop, the pc will have a model number. Some bios do not recognise some cpus even if they physically should fit, it's a custom bios specifically for that vendor, not a generic bios that fits every cpu.

If it's a custom pre-built, it'll be an aftermarket motherboard and the name will be printed on it somewhere.
Is that a new cpu you put in? Do you know the old cpu?
