PLEASE HELP. New hardware. Random restarts.

Hello,

My name is Joe. Thanks for stopping to check this out.

I recent upgraded my computer with the following parts.

Motherboard-GA-B85-HD3
CPU-Intel i5-4670K
Memory-Corsair Dominator
GPU-Geforce GTX 760 2GB
HD-WD 2TB SATA

I also went with Windows 8.1 :/ because I thought it may have been my old OS on my old HD. Same random result.

Anyways. My computer will be on and seem just fine, but it will randomly restart. This seems to happen(maybe just coincidence) with I am downloading, or copying large files. It also has cut of my audio a couple times upon restart.

I thought it my have been my old HD so I upgraded to the one above. No dice.

Is there a setting in bios that I need to adjust? Do I have a shitty motherboard?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

What power supply are you running, that would be the first culprit. Gigabyte motherboards are generally speaking very reliable.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the PS.

It is a Corsair 850W PS. I don't think this is the problem on account 850W should be more than enough, and also, these problems did not begin until I swapped out the Motherboard, CPU, GPU, and RAM.

Strange enough, the motherboard is "Ultra Durable", but on my previous upgrade, I had a power issue, and it ended up being the old Gigabyte motherboard(this was back in 2010).

Another thing worth considering is the fact that I would lose the Realtek audio driver on about half of these startups, and I read the Windows 8.1 could be the culprit for that. Keep in mind, this happened before I changed HD and OS. So maybe the random resarts just added to the already documented OS glitch? All speculation of course.

Hi, Joe, as long as I can see, the list contains only 2 pieces, I can doubt in - the MB and the VC. All the rest is just the perfect choice. It would be fine to tell the exact model and size of the memory banks. As for the beginning, remove the external VC and use the MB's one and see if the same happens. The power of the supply is more than the necessary, the brand is ultimate, the chance for PSU malfunction is insignificant. If the VC is not the cause, the MB stays as for the main suspect.

Ok start with memory test. Make sure ram is seated properly, run one stick only, then other stick by itself.

If that doesn't fix it, see what version bios you are running. Go into bios and click restore default settings. Make sure your motherboard drivers are up to date from gigabyte website. If you are running an older version of bios, update it.. But do it as a last resort - if you have a hardware problem and your computer resets during bios update you can turn your motherboard into a paperweight.
