[SOLVED] please help -- PC booting in to DOS game.

i just bought a retro gaming pc. an old beige windows 98 one. silpheed, a game that runs on dos i accidentaly gave it hard drive acess or something (sry im not familliar with win 98) and now it boots into silpheed. how do i disable this.

Check the autoexec.bat and config.sys files. On windows 98, they should be empty or nearly so.

Without knowing exactly what you did it's going to be very hard to fix this issue,but one thing is certain you will have to boot from a boot floppy and fix this from dos,that's also how you would for example get access to those two files mitch mentioned and edit them.

Since both Config.SYS and Autoexec.BAT are text files you can read them using the TYPE command.
TYPE CONFIG.SYS
TYPE AUTOEXEC.BAT
