[SOLVED] Please help, should I get this motherboard?

Solution
This is very basic to me you have a perfectly working PC your not upgrading the processor so their 100% no reason to upgrade your motherboard for what you have and use the PC for!
Thats a massive rip off for a motherboard that cant support any new CPU.

The 7700/7700K is the best in that socket.

I would strongly suggest you look around eBay, facebook Marketplace etc, for a used Z270 or since you have a non K chip a B360 which will be substantially cheaper.

It's a waste to throw alot of money on an outdated chipset.

Thanks for your reply!!

You're right but I'm not going to upgrade my cpu for a long time and whenever I decide to do so, I could sell it back and make something out of it, plus my current MB is really old its h110, and I could use the new features on the new one! so in my situation, do you still think it's not worth it? I dont know what to do and I'm worried that someone else will buy it faster than me!

If the H110 is working fine I would just use it, what features are you looking for?

For most users a NVME drive means absolutely nothing unless your doing a ton of file transfers.

Age is meaningless, unless there is a specific feature you want there will be no performance boost by switching to a new motherboard. Not to mention switching to a new mobo will mean reinstalling Windows.

The features on the z270e compared to my current mobo are endless and having them would be really nice, doesn't support m2/nvme, wifi, etc

It is working fine but it would still feel cool having all the other new features that I never had before and I'd use the nvme for gaming since that's all I do, I'm really trying to convince myself not to get it rn lol

I will help you then.

Just get a regular SATA SSD your just gaming you will never notice a difference in game load times or windows load times.

Cool features don't improve in game performance at all. For the money you save on a new board you can get a larger SSD.

Another thing New motherboard means you need to do a fresh install of windows and re download all your games.

I actually do have two SSDs, one 120 GB for OS and the other one is 1 TB samsung 860 evo that I use for games. Should I just wait for the prices of z370/390 drop then get one along with i7 8700k/i7 9700k? which one do you think would be a better choice?

Prices don't drop like that they usually go up since they stop making them as new hardware come out like the current Z490.

If your going to buy new get the 10600K or 10700K paired with a Z490 board.

Then your looking at reinstalling windows and all your games.

Just upgraded my 4790K to a 10600K.

You're right, thanks man!
one last question if you don't mind. would 9700k be better than 8700k for gaming? (more cores but less threads)

thanks for the replies man, much appreciated! you saved me 150$
Actually you saved yourself 150 bucks. Most people can't comprehend that the motherboard more or less just connects the parts and has no real impact on performance. Of course it's a bit different if you had a CPU (K series) that was made to overclock and was buying a motherboard that could not overclock it.
