PLEASE HELP SLOW Toshiba satellite C55

My laptop is a Toshiba satellite C55. It is running very slow disabled a lot at startup but still slow. I'm a Maintance worker. I know nothing about laptops

Run disk defragmenter, search in on the start menu and when the window appears, defrag your C: Drive

Malware is a strong possibility. Are you getting pop-ups on the desktop? You can check if it runs more quickly in safe mode.

Back in normal mode, you can check CPU usage. On a fresh reboot with no windows open there should be close to zero CPU activity. Hit CTRL-ALT-DEL and select "Task Manager." Click the option on the bottom of the window to see advanced options then go to Performance tab.

An option to restore the computer is the refresh function in Windows 8. IF you have any files you wan to keep, it might be a good idea to back them up to an external drive before doing this.

Thank you for the help! I did that earlier today. it finished pretty fast. Must of had a lot in order already. Any thing else I can try???
