I used pureplus pennzoil motor oil to lube my fan is that okay? It's SAE 5w-20 and full synthetic.

It's a brushless fan just a metal rod really. I used a qtip to rub a tiny bit on said metal rod. Their is no rubber ring on the rod either is that okay? Or can the oil leak out or get onto the electrical parts of the fan?

i mean if there was an issue with the fan, and that fixed the issue, than sure why not. I would think adding your own oil creates some amount of risk for oil to get somewhere where you dont want it to be, probably wont blow anything up if you were careful...

You do this to a case/cpu fan, or to a GPU fan?

It's a cpu fan but it's not a heat sink it's above it. It's a Alienware Alpha R2 CPU Cooling Fan. It was making this horrible noise it was grinding up against it's self. I put the oil on one side of a qtip and rubbed it on the metal rod. Some ran down the rod so I used the other side of the qtip to clean it up.

Time to buy a new fan.
Order tomorrow, and by the time it shows up in the mail, this one will be making noise again.

That new oil you put in is only a temp "fix".

Yeah I saw others say that. It's time to build a new computer this thing is junk. They want $25 for a piece of plastic an a crappy fan and I can't find the fan anywhere to just replace it.
