Depends of where you downloaded the installer from but it may be that you downloaded a downloader-installer, the kind you download from websites that once in your hard drive, when you click on it, it starts downloading the actual software installer... it's the only way to understand why "it want to connect to get it set up"...

You need to download the actual driver installer from the Gateway website. The link below downloads the driver in a zip folder, once in your computer, you can extract the driver (complete folder) from the zip folder and start the installation from the extracted folder.

Download "Marvell Yukon 88E8050 PCI-E ASF Gigabit Ethernet Controller" this is driver version 8.27.4.3 6/9/2010 which is the more recent update... the other driver named LAN Driver is the same driver but the previous 7.05 version from 3/24/2010.. both are Marvel Yukon drivers and either would work but the more recent version should be better. BTW Network Adapter and Ethernet Controler are the same thing and so is LAN Card, so you only need to install one which should be the latest update available. So, download version 8.27.4.3 and burn it to a CD or copy it to a USB Pendrive and extract the driver folder from the ZIP folder to the computer's hard drive... next open the folder and with a right click on the file named "yk51x86.inf" select "Install" from the context menu. Next restart the computer and the driver should auto-install. You may need a file compression program so download one from the Filehippo website or if you prefer a self installing option, download it from the Softonic website.

Download the drivers under LAN

--------------------------------------------
Download a File compressing or decompressing program if you don't have one already installed.

I'd suggest you download from filehippo.com, 7-zip or IZArc. Either one will do... both are freeware file compressing-decompressing software, and they are of easy and quick installation and won't install other stuff. Correction: They do now even from filhippo install undesireable software so watch and uncheck what you don't want installed.

7-Zip 9.20 (32-bit)

IZArc 4.1.8.2988
http://www.filehippo.com/download_izarc/

--------------------------------------------
These are self installing downloads... this website downloads a download starter-installer that auto-installs the program you want, but you have to uncheck the undesirable programs it will install, so you have to choose the Custom installation to watch and prevent what wants to be installed on your computer.
