Hello all, I'd really appreciate some help!
Okay so last night I decided to put my computer into sleep mode (I rarley ever use sleep) and when I woke up the next morning my computer wouldn't display anything. I rebooted and it kept taking me to my bios, to discover my samsung SSD is not showing up anymore, which is what I had Windows 10 installed on. I tried moving plugs to different slots -- nothing. I figure sleep mode maybe messed it up and corrupted it or something. It's not that big of a deal because I still have my hard drive and my secondary PNY SSD showing up.
When I built this PC I used Windows 7 USB installation, because I still have the product code (don't have the disc though) and upgraded to 10 from there. So I load up the Windows 7 iso files to the USB, change boot priority to the USB drive. I will get the black screen with "Windows is Loading files", then "windows is starting" with the four squares, but nothing will happen after that point. The image on the screen is moving though, so I know my PC isn't frozen.
I've tried removing my graphics card, a DIMM slot from my memory, and changing settings in the bios. In the bios I have it set to Windows 7 installation, I have seen issues of UEFI causing issues. When I pick Windows 7 install, the only option I have is "Legacy + UEFI".
PC SPECS:
I5 6600k
MSI Gaming M5 motherboard
16gb ddr4
wester digital hd
pny ssd
msi gtx 970
evga 500watt psu
I feel like there must be some setting in my BIOS that I'm missing, but have no idea what. Any help greatly appreciated!
