2 things i would try before system restore. when at the advanced boot options screen (F8 during boot) would be to select the "last know good configuration" option. if that doesn't work try "resolution mode" (same screen as the last know good configuration) to rule out a bad display driver. other than that a system restore would be the way to go
ok there im on my desktop i used the first option you gave me (last known good something) and it booted up, is the problem fixed? IF it is what did it do?
Last good known configuration:
It's a Windows startup option that uses the most recent system settings that worked correctly. Every time you turn your computer off and Windows shuts down successfully, important system settings are saved in the registry. If a problem occurs, you can restart your computer using those settings. For example, if a new driver for your video card is causing problems, or an incorrect registry setting is preventing Windows from starting correctly, you can restart your computer using Last Known Good Configuration
problem could be fixed. Run your computer for a while. Do a shutdown or a restart. If everything works well than you are good
