Please help with Asus P4P800-E Deluxe

This will be a new build for me….haven’t put one together in 3-4 years and things have changed, yes?

Here are the particulars, then my question(s):

Asus P4P800-E Deluxe
Windows 2000-Pro w/SP4
WD 74GB raptor SATA (for OS)
Seagate 200GB SATA (storage)
2 x Transcend 512MB DDR400 9TS64MLD64V4F3 (Asus approved)
Intel P4 3.40E
Enermax 550W P.S.
Video XFX6600
Plextor 52x32x52 CD-RW drive
Plextor PX-716A DVD burner
Iomega 250MB zip
1.44mb Sony floppy

I’ve read about every thread I can about this MB, but I still have some questions.

I don’t want to RAID. So to which ports do I hook up my two hard disks? SATA1 and SATA2?

Do I need to install the Intel driver at the f6 prompt for this?

Would it be better to install these independent SATA drives on the Promise controller SATA RAID 1 & 2 and select Non-RAID in the BIOS? If so, should I install the Win2000 Promise SATA 378 IDE Controller Driver at the F6 prompt, or some other time?

I was going to put the Plextors on IDE 1 master and IDE 2 Master with the zip as a slave on one of them.

This box will be used for everyday use, with some PhotoShop/PageMaker/Illustrator tasks and little, or none gaming.

I should have all the parts from NEWEGG on Wednesday, and I am trying to establish a build convention so I don’t get into trouble and have to bug you astute guys too much.

Any help, no matter how little, is GREATLY appreciated.
