please help with Sony Vaio reformat

My girlfriend has a Sony Vaio laptop model number PCG-71911L. The PC had a virus on it and was running slow so I formatted the HD with the intention of reinstalling windows from the recovery discs (best buy told me windows was on the recovery discs). Come to find out windows is not on the recovery discs, so having an unused OEM copy of windows 32bit professional version I installed that on there. I then went to install the drivers and an error pops up that it cant run because of a different version of windows. I go to sony's website and the only drivers available are for windows home premium 64bit or windows 8. Is my only solution buying a copy of windows 7 64bit home premium? Id like to use this windows 7 professional 32bit if possible to save money especially since she barely uses the computer.
