D Does Samsung 970 EVO NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD fit onto ASUS Maximus VI extreme? and can i put my OS on it to boot windows?

Solution
For a system drive application you need a motherboard that supports the NVMe M.2 on the motherboard with a dedicated M.2 slot. The Bios has to have the NVMe option, otherwise it will just be a SATA SSD.

That motherboard doesn't support it. And using a legacy PCIE adapter will only be supported in SATA mode. So just get a Samsung 860 Evo SSD.
