PLEASE HELP!!

So I am thinking about buying a graphics card to upgrade my computer, but i have no idea if the parts will work with each other. I'm thinking about upgrading my ATI Radeon 4200 HD to a Radeon 6850 HD.

my specifications are

OS: Win 7 Home Premium
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 245 Processor (2 CPUs), ~2.9GHz
RAM: 4GB
Direct X:11
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 4200

(dont know if its important or not)
Chip type: ATI deisplay adapter (0x9710)
DAC Type: Internal DAC(400MHz)
Approx. total memory: 1916 MB

Will My computer be able to use the ATI radeon HD 6850 with out bottle necking it? If it does bottle neck it, what is the highest graphics card i can upgrade it to without bottle necking it?

OH! and I would like to play anything really on low settings at least. im not into the big showy graphics but its nice to be able to play on high settings. im mostly playing first person/Third person shooters, but sometimes real time stratagy.

My windows 7 is a 64-bit computer

my range is around $130-$160

1.So firstly let me ask you what are you playing or what would you like to play.
2. What settings would you consider acceptable.
3. How much money are you looking to spend
4. Are you using a 32 bit OS or a 64 bit. Right Click on my computer and go to properties.

This is perhaps one card that you could go with. It has a high amount of ram which will be more then adequate for you. You wouldn't be playing games on low which I know you are not asking for anything beyond low but to have a card that will only allow you to play on low is unacceptable it means your system can not handle the game in my eyes. Much cheaper I think you are looking at 1 gb 7850's and 1 gigabyte 650ti, 650 non ti's.

GTX 580 3GB IS ENOUGH FOR THAT MOBO.

Max is 1600x900, but i usually use 800x600 which dramaticly imkproves my proformance.

And you are positive that this card will work? without me bottle necking the card? i didnt buy this as a gaming computer to begin with so it has a normal motherboard, integrated graphics and a regular proccessor. are you POSITIVE?

hmm well to be safe lets try and figure out the motherboard do you have the model number of the computer sir.

You should get hd 7750.but if you are going to upgrade that cpu is future then hd 7770 is best for that resolution.

I dont think so but i have the name of the computer. Its a Dell inspiron 570. its been with us or a year so we lost all packing information.

Well after looking around and trying to ask Dell what your motherboard is I have come to the conclusion that you are using a pci-e 2.0 board. A 7770 requires a minimum of 450 watts a 7750 would require a 400 watt power supply and that graphic card only uses the power of the slot so you should be okay with that however I would still go out and replace your power supply if you can.

Ok so the 650 will run fine? But you would recommend upgrading the powersupply anyways?

I would recommend upgrading your power supply before doing anything yes. The 650 non ti also recommends a minimum of 400 watts.

oh... are those power supplies that exspensive? like $150 and up? wait nvm i think i found a 500 wt power supply for $49. is that good? and did you mean that the 650 will run on my cpu without minimum power supply or is it manditory i get a bigger supply before ordering?
