So I bought an Asus Xonar DX off Newegg so I had a sound card to use with my Astro A50 headset. It needed Dolby Digital Live according to the manufacturer for me to get surround sound. My onboard audio is done via a Realtek ALC892 on my Asus P8Z77-V motherboard. When I tried to install the official Asus driver I got an error message asking me to please plug in the device. The device was plugged into my PCIEx1 slot and connected to my power supply. I eventually found this solution to restore the card's EEPROM http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Xonar_EEPROM_Failure and did it and it worked. The device manager now recognized it as an Asus Xonar DX and not a multimedia audio controller. However, when I try to launch the Asus Audio Center it does not open. It does not open upon launch of my computer either. The 3rd party Asus Xonar Unified Drivers do not launch their application either http://brainbit.wordpress.com/2010/07/19/asus-xonar-unified-drivers/ . Has anyone else experienced this or can help?

Thanks :)

The card is getting power. The problem is that the software won't open.

I had this problem with software not working and it turned out to be the power not plugged in hard enough. Once pushed in hard enough i thought i was gonna break It but it sort of slides on the board.

What software? The drivers or the Asus Audio Center? It slides on the board? What slides?
