i just moved to central florida into a new home on the same ground as the state run facility i work at. im looking to increase my wifi signal as much as possible. and was wondering if i should go with an wifi adapter for my pc or an extender/ repeater. also if i should use directional antennas. the router im trying to reach is about 150-200 feet. i was thinking a 5ghz alfa... let me know what you think would be best. thanks

An outdoor directional bridge would be the best answer. Bring the network inside on an ethernet cable and add a WIFI access point if required. The WIFI source you are trying to get would probably be 2.4Ghz rather than 5Ghz. 2.4 carries further.

are you sure 150-200 feet is too far for 5ghz? 5ghz would be ideal.

If it is standard indoor WIFI, then the exterior walls probably attenuate the signal too much. The open air distance isn't the issue it is the obstructions. Now if you could put an outdoor directional 5Ghz transmitter at the source, 200ft line-of-sight would be easy.
