Hello, 20+ years ago I used PartitionMagic and BootMagic to create dual-boot Windows and Linux PC that had one internal hard drive. They were very easy to use with GUI and worked all the time. Given that they are no longer available, what are the equivalent replacements?

Thank you. In practice, based on your experience, after drive partition can I use any of these two software to dynamically resize the partitions without having the files damaged?

Yes, that is primarily what I used AOEMI for, partition resize after a clone.

Many of the cloning tools now handle this themselves.

You can also often just use Windows Diskpart to resize a partition as long as you have the unpartitioned space on the drive to do so.

This:

[My underline]

Before doing anything ensure that all important files are backed up at least 2 x to locations away from the computer in question.

Verify that the backups are recoverable and readable.

Partitioning, via any tool and/or method, involves risks.

"File damage" is preventable with a good backup routine.

Any manipulation of partitions needs to be immediately preceded buy a full drive Image.

I do that 'resize' during the clone.
So do I, but back in the day the cloning tools weren't quite as good as they are now. I recall early versions of Acronis that were bundled with Samsung drives didn't always do it. And I think Clonezilla had issues with dealing with SSDs entirely so it would only do a one to one partition size clone. I vaguely also remember having to do something extra to enable TRIM, which is handled automatically now.

Been a long time since I have used AOEMI, but I know it was a decent tool. Probably on my dad's Win 7 machine (that I can't get him to retire)

Also been a while since I cloned from HDD to SSD for that matter.

CloneZilla always had a REAL problem.
It was good in some circumstances and configs, useless in other.
