Hello everyone. First poster here. I've been reading some articles on this site and it is very informative. At the same time, a little overwhelming.
I'm looking to build my first desktop computer. I've been reading and watching some videos on putting the different parts together and it doesn't seem too difficult. I'm an electrical engineer, so I can follow some instructions. We're looking to spend $600-700 (maybe a little more if necessary) on everything other than OS, keyboard, mouse and speakers. The main purpose of the desktop is for general use such as internet surfing and some multi-tasking capabilities would be great. I can't think of a program that we use often that would require a large amount of computer resource. There is one thing. I don't usually play video games anymore, and I do have an XBOX360 that I hardly touch. But I would like to be able to play some PC games if I choose. The main game that I would really have to have is Diablo 3 if/when it ever comes out. So I would like to atleast be able to play D3 at medium setting. One of the main priority is to have dual screens per wife's request.
Approximate Purchase Date: This week. No later than next week.
Budget Range: $600-700 (maybe a little more if necessary) after rebates
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Internet surfing, multi-tasking and gaming are tied as 2nd.
Parts Not Required: OS, keyboard, mouse, speakers.
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: No preference. There's also a Frys not to far from me.
Country of Origin: USA
Parts Preferences: Atleast 18" dual widescreen monitors
Overclocking: Maybe
Monitor Resolution: I'm not too familiar as far as what resolution to have since I'm open as far as screen size. I guess what ever the natural resolution of the screen would be fine.
I was checking out Lunyone's build found below since it's in my price range. How is this rig for multi-tasking?
