My plan is to get an Asus striker MOBO with an E6600.

What cooler would work good/best and most importantly fit on this MOBO

I would think most coolers would be able to fit the Striker fine...

Which in that case, go for a large tower one, Scythe Ninja/Infinity, Tuniq, or XP-120

Are you sure that the Scythe Infinity will fit? I was reading a review about the Striker... and there they say this: "If your heatsink is wider than 103mm less than 35mm from its base, there will not be room."

The Scythe Infinity has overall dimensions: 125x116x160 (WxDxH)
And the wide part starts 30mm from it's base...

So when you are looking at the sizes.. it willl not fit... and still everyone is Recommending the Infinity... So I'm confused... and I think I'll bring my Infinity back to the store and I will get a Zalman CNPS9700 LED instead... that one will certainly fit!

Nooo, don`t get a zalman =).

If ya can find a tuniq tower, I`ve seen it on a striker
Plus it`s 5.5cm high

Ok thx for the advice... I'll look into it...

edit: Oh damn.. they don't have that cooler in that store... so no exchanging possible... I'm still hoping the Infinity will fit :)

I have an Asus Striker Extreme MB with an E6600 and the Scythe Infinity with an upgraded 120m silverstone fan, but I'll tell you this, it was a pain to put this config together because of the big heat pipes that surround the cpu for the chipset which get in the way of you pushing down on the locking pins to secure it to the MB, which also makes it a pain to take it off too. I had so much trouble with this setup that I ended up giving the scythe to my brother which I install on an 939 socket very easily. So I'm using my stock HSF till I get the Zalman 9700 maybe it will be easier to put on the striker :?:

Ok thx!. This was the kinda advice I was looking for... now I'm sure I will exchange the Infinity for another cooler.

thx.

And why would the Striker be any different from any other board!? Oh yes, because of the gimmicky unless heatpipe jungle!
Grab the one and only Tuniq Tower 120 to make up for the 'slight' rip off youll get from Asus.
