I have a modded Intel Xeon E5450 on(which works like a Q9650 and even sold as one), 8GB 800MHz DDR2 RAM, and Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti Galaxy OC 2GB Edition on Asus P5Q SE motherboard.

I found this thread but it's about Asus P5Q Pro, which is a different mobo:

Mine's here:
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5Q_SE/overview/

Please also suggest an economic product to keep my cpu cool enough after overclocking if you will, some products are hard to find here, so these are the brands sorted by the number of choices from each that I see:

Cooler Master
Deep Cool
Thermaltake
Xigmatek
Zalman
Akasa
Noctua
Corsair
Evercool
Antec

Hey, I have a 5450 on the way, which is going into my P5Q-SE Plus. The difference between the two boards is minimal, so if someone else doesn't provide a solution, I should have some info by next week (CPU's supposed to be in by Friday). My board honestly overclocks pretty well; I got my E8500 to a stable 4 Ghz with minimal effort and a slight RAM overclock. Didn't keep it there, though. That was with 4 GB of fast RAM, but I dropped in 8 GB of cheap stuff and didn't feel comfortable pushing it too much.

I have a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus that I'm pretty happy with, though I replaced the stock fan with a Cougar. The EVO version gets a lot of love, but I don't have any personal experience with it. Noctua gets consistently excellent reviews and feedback.

Ok, The E5450 is in, and early results are less than encouraging. Keep in mind that I'm FAR from an expert overclocker; if I can't get a reasonable stable result in a couple dozen attempts, I usually throw in the towel. But here's what's happened so far.

I bent a few pins performing the socket mod, and may not have gotten them back exactly where they're supposed to be. The board boots though, and Prime95 seems happy enough at stock clocks. With the E8500, all I had to do was set FSB to 400, FSB strap to north bridge to 333 or 400, and DRAM frequency to 800. No voltage tweaks or anything, and got a stable 3.6 GHz. Must have gotten a pretty good chip, or maybe extra cores put more stress on the MB's logic, cuz that did NOT work this time around. If I have time (ha!) I might play around with some lower frequencies and higher voltages and post back here if I find anything significant. Good luck!

I've seen posts talking about increasing voltage up to 1.4

I bought a Balder SD1283. It'll probably be ready for overclocking tomorrow but not much yet as my 300 watt psu will set a limit...

I've tried sth similar to "Settings for Q9550 for 3.8ghz" here:

http://forum.computerlounge.co.nz/posts/m797-Asus-P5Q-Pro---Overclocking-Guide
My cpu ratio is auto(which must mean 9 when loaded) and the cpu is @3.9GHz now. Cpu pll is not tweakable in this mobo. It's been running Prime 95 blend without error for the last 1.5 hours. I think I can get it stable at higher speeds but I'm not sure about how further is safe or not.

BTW, I must have mistaken about PSU, it says both regular 300 watt and peak 300 watt but strangely calculates very close to a 430 watt psu I was checking:

3.9 GHz; not bad. I'd buy that for a dollar (or a few). Life and Fallout have intervened, and I haven't made any more significant OC attempts yet. I'll try to find time (read: put down FO4) to take another crack at it starting with where you're at, and hope that the bent pins are either back in place or unused. Fingers crossed.
