Please use dual link DVI cable

Hey guys, I have bought the ASUS vg248qe and am using the cable that came with the box. However, everytime i try to change the refresh rate to 144hz it tells me to use a dual link cable, which I am doing. Any ideas? (update, I just looked at the pins on the connector. One of the pins is pushed in. Could this be the issue?)

I suspect you've answered your own question. Try a new cable....

Yes a bent pin could be the issue. A dual link dvi cable has extra pins (9 or 12 i believe) that provide more bandwidth the the monitor. Id try to straighten the pin, failing that get a new dual link or HDMI cable.

^ The hdmi port on that monitor only supports 60Hz for 144Hz you need to use dual link dvi or displayport.

The bent pin could very well be the issue. The ASUS vg248qe comes with a Dual link DVI cable so using that should be fine. Make sure you are plugging into a DVI port on your graphics card that supports Dual link DVI(DVI-D) as some cards will have multiple DVI outputs but not all will support DVI-D.

Yea make sure no bend pins. Also if the middle section of pins are missing IT IS NOT A DUAL LINK. MUST HAVE ALL PINS
