I just receaved my Plextor 16x and installed it on its own ide channel, using my hd as master and nomral cd-rom as slave on the 1st channel. I try to copy cd-cd and it will
not let me. it says my normal cd-rom does not have enough speed to do it, so i try at 4x and get buffer underruns, my cd-rom is a pioneer 24x dvd-cd drive what do i need to get that will let me copy cd-cd at full 16x? upgrading to 16x write from 4x and halving to copy to hd first kinda defeated the perpouse of getting the faster cd-writer 🙁
BTW I was trying to copy Audio cd's havnt tried data. and i am using adaptec ez-cd creator.

You need a CD-ROM at least 4 time the writer's speed to write on fly and you still will encounter some buffer underrun. I think the best way to copy a cd is copy to hard drive first.

Try installing the CD-ROM as the Secondary Slave on the same cable as the CD-RW, and see if that clears up the problem. You might also want to look for a firmware update for the CD-ROM. If none of that works ... resign yourself to either replacing the CD-ROM, or copying the data to the hard drive.

Post again, afterwards, and let us know what happened.

Good luck.

Sorry, but you havnt a cat in hells chance of going 16x on the fly with your drive, I doubt my plexy 40x scsi would do it, unless of course the writer is burnproof.

Next time you wave - use all your fingers

Xavierorc, your CDRW is burn-proof - please use this feature 😉

And do yourself a great favour - get rid of that crappy recording SW and get something decent... like Nero.

Cheers,
