Pls Help! Every time I boot my computer the CMOS is always cleared

Hi Everybody!

I'll put the specs first:
MSI X370 Xpower Gaming Titanium
Ryzen 5 1600
G-Skill Trident Z 16gb RAM (8GBX2)
Asus Strix RX580 8GB
Samsung 850 evo 250gb SSD
WD Black 1TB HDD
Corsair RM750x PSU

So this computer is a new computer I built and I'm a newbie at this. I am currently having this problem. When I turn on my computer after 8 hours, it says that my CMOS have been cleared or Devices has been changed (CPU or MEMORY).

The format goes like this:

E7A31AMS.190 09/19/2017

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Six-Core Processor , Speed: 100.00x32.0=3200.00 MHz
DRAM Frequency for DDR4 2133 MHz(Dual Channel)
DRAM Size is 16384 MB

SATA Port 2: WDC WD1003FZEX

Devices Changed(CPU or Memory) or CMOS have been Cleared. Please enter setup to configure system.

That happens every time I wake up and turn on the computer. I haven't done any overclocking, the time on the BIOS always keeps on resetting, but the time on my desktop is correct.The computer is running fine and all, it's just that I'm worrying that something might be wrong. This has been happening for 6 days straight now. Please help!

Are you unplugging or shutting the power off to your computer each time you shut it down? The small battery on your motherboard holds the settings in the BIOS chip when power is removed from the motherboard. What your describing sounds like each time you shut down your computer, the CMOS battery is not doing it's job powering the BIOS chip. Is it possible the battery is not installed properly, fully inserted into it's socket or is in backwards?

Yes. I always unplug the computer when I shut it off but I don't turn the power button off in the psu. Should I not? Should I just leave it in the socket? I checked the battery and it was installed properly. Though I noticed, when I turn off and unplug the computer, there are still lights in the motherboard which remains for a few seconds, then just turn off.

Based on what your saying i think my suspicion was right. For whatever reason, the CMOS battery is not powering the BIOS chip on your motherboard, so when you shut it down and unplug the computer all your BIOS settings are lost. For now just don't unplug your computer when you shut it down and the motherboard doesn't need the battery, It's getting power from the wall. That should solve your problem for now and you can figure out why the battery isn't working later on.

Oh my bad.. I clicked the down vote button. I was using my phone and I clicked on the right side. Plus I didn't know what those buttons do.. My bad.. Anyways, I won't unplug it for now. I won't be home for 8 hours so it's the best time to test it. If ever that this works, does it mean that the battery have some problems??

Oh my bad.. I clicked the down vote button. I was using my phone and I clicked on the right side. Plus I didn't know what those buttons do.. My bad.. Anyways, I won't unplug it for now. I won't be home for 8 hours so it's the best time to test it. If ever that this works, does it mean that the battery have some problems??

It would only cost a dollar or two to replace the battery [all motherboards use a CR2032 3V coin battery] but the problem may just be dirt, pet hair or a lint ball that is lodged behind the battery preventing a proper connection. When you can shut down the computer, pop the battery out and look it over.

So I didn't unplug it for 8 hours just like you suggested, and when I booted it up, it showed me the lockscreen no problem. Then before I went to sleep, I unplugged it. And now it showed me that screen again the one with the F1 or F2. So I bought a battery and I'll replace it now, I'll update you if it's ok already..
