Hello!

I am planning on building a new system. I basically know almost all the parts that I want except one, the motherboard. I will be building a AMD system with a 640MB 8800GTS. However, I have heard many motherboards don't fit nicely with this card and many times even if it fits, it covers up other slots.

Therefore I ask, what's a motherboard that supports AMD X2, SLI (preferred if possible .. if not it's okay), and fits nice the 8800GTS? My budget is up to about $175 for the motherboard.

All Help Is Appreciated :D :D

I have a s-939 asus a8n sli deluxe and run an 8800. I would imagine you are planning am2.
It fits both slots on my mobo, i have two 68gt,s with arctic cooler nv5,s on them.
and with those coolers the 68gt will not fit the bottom slot.
I have tried 3 different cases and i would have to cut a hole in the bottom
of the case,s for the fan.

The 8800gts is almost exactly the same size as the 6800gt.
But with the above mentioned coolers on the 68gt,s are thicker than the stock
cooler in the 8800gts.

Hope this helps.

ddwaldon: Thank you for your suggestion this looks like a good mobo. Few questions. Does a single 8800 block any slots? what about dual 8800? this is with stock cooling. I was planning on getting the EVGA version incase you are wondering.

Anyone else with any recommendations? :D

My 8800 doesnt really block the pci slot below it, but
putting a pci device right below it would yeild maybe 2mm,s of
space. And while it may not interfear with the fan it is
certainly sure to add extra heat.
But you should be able to use a pci card in the lower pci slot
with plenty of room.

I too have a question. with the a8n-SLI deluxe, will the stock chip set fan (the newer one that is tilted) interfere with a 8800 GTS?

I want to get a 8800 GTS but I fear that the chipset fan would be too high up off of the board for that big card

what do you think?
