Hello, I have recently built my first custom PC and I believe it is great for a first build. I got an I7-7700k with a Corsair H100iV2 liquid cooler so that I could worry less about my CPU's temperature when playing games and streaming. So my two questions are 1. What is the best slot to plug my cable for the cooler into, there is a Y-adapter that I plugged the two fans on the radiator into and then I plugged the other cord, not the corsair link one that plugs into the USB header and to the cooler itself, into the CPU_OPT header, was this the right choice or should I plug it into the CPU_FAN header? Whats the difference? And the second question is 2. I keep getting around 60-70C when playing H1Z1 KOTK and demanding games such as that on my CPU, I know that the i7 k series CPU's run hotter than the other series, but I don't exactly know why, but is there a way to keep that down more than it is right now and does it have something to do with how I plugged in my liquid cooler? Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for any answers and help! ~ Thekilla2659

Solution
1. You should plug the cooler into the CPU_FAN header. That header speeds up or slows down according to the CPU temperature.
2. Some people are obsessive about keeping temperatures low but running at 60-70C during demanding games is not going to damage your CPU.

My motherboard is the asus rog strix z270e gaming motherboard, and I was told that when streaming and playing games that I want to keep my CPU at around 60C and nothing higher if possible.

So I will try to plugging the cooler header into the CPU_FAN slot instead of the CPU_OPT slot, but why do people in assembly videos tell you to plug it into the CPU_OPT slot? Is it because of the 3 pin instead of 4 pin prong and that since its a liquid cooler instead of a fan by itself that they want you have it in the optional since it normally gives you full control of the cooling system with the full 4 prong adapter?

You should follow the Corsair H100iV2 installation instructions.
