Plugging in tv with HDMI to my GTX 590 using a DVI/HDMI converter crashed my computer.

My GTX 590 has three outputs that all use DVI. One output is used for my main monitor. I was wanting to plug in my tv to do some PC gaming with the controller. I was using a DVI to HDMI converter and plugged my tv in to another one of the outputs. It immediately blue screens my computer. I don't believe there isn't anything I can do with the NVIDIA control panel dealing with multiple displays unless I can successfully connect the other display first. So is there any way for this to work with both being plugged in at the same time? Why does it crash my computer?

Hmm... I've had something similar happen to me when I plugged into a monitor, it immediately crashed the computer. Turned out the monitor was somehow backfeeding into the VGA connection. In all my years, that has been the 1st and only time I've seen that happen (a monitor backfeeding into the computer).

I figured it out by switching components. So maybe you need to try 1) connecting the PC to another HDMI input on the same TV, 2) connecting to a different TV entirely, or 3) a different DVI/HDMI converter. Chances are one of those will be the culprit.
