Plugging M2 Windows 7 into new Coffee Lake system

Hi,

I have an ancient Windows 7 Pro install that I've always moved from an E8400 to various other Intel systems.
It's currently running on an SSD in a Skylake system. I cloned the SSD to an M2 drive which I plugged it into the new Coffee Lake system - it just restarts after the "Windows is loading" screen.

PS: I did manage to install Windows 7 on the new system, but it would save me a lot of trouble installing everything again.

Any ideas on making my old install work on the new system?

I would always advise a fresh install in that scenario.

There is no magic sauce to "make it work".

Clean install.

If I can inject drivers into a new install, can't I do the same with an old one?
Let's say I installed what I needed on my old machine, copied the SSD onto the M2 and then booted it up?
