Plundering the corpse

Can someone give me a little advice please. When my character, a
barbarian, is killed I am returned to the camp. There I sometimes
find my dead corpse and I can plunder it to recover most of my
inventory. But often I can't. This is confusing me a little. Is
there some sort of rule or procedure I should follow to find the
corpse of a dead participant. I'm sorry if this is a little basic,
but the readme is not too comprehensive on this point. Thank you.

When you die, your corpse should not be in town unless you exit and reenter
the game. In NM and Hell, you receive roughly 70% of xp lost when you
recover your corpse if you stay in the game and do not reenter.

If your body is randomly spawning in town when you die, then I'm not sure
what the cause would be. I have never had this happen to me, so I really
can't help much.

Sorry! All I can say is try to play with others and always try to recover
your body instead of exiting and reentering the game. (At least in NM and
Hell)

You must be naked (no other items on char) when You back to corpse, and
dont forget about strenght, You must have enough str/dex to wear Your
gear (when using str bug etc. 😉 )

Your body will always be near your stash, but be sure you leave the game
with only one corpse as only the most valueable corpse (counted in gold)
is taken to the next game.

That's of course the best solution, but if your alone, don't risk any
other equipment be lost in a second corpse. It is often easier to get
your xp back than the items you may loose.

Do people actually don equipment for a corpse recovery run? At one
point, after a *really* nasty experience with a triple boss pack of
Undead Stygian Dolls right by the stairs to Durance 1 in either NM or
Hell in SP, I started building a second kit for one of my characters
on BNut, but I never used it. It's much safer to just run back down
and try to recover your corpse, even if you have to TP to town
immediately to refill your belt. That way you *do* have the option to
exit if the situation is hopeless, and only lose the experience.
