I recently copied a partition of Win2k to another hard drive, but the swapfile (pagefile.sys) got lost. Now when I boot up my computer, it tells me that "there is no pagefile or it is too small" and that I should right click on my computer to set it. Problem is my desktop never comes up and my computer just sits there. When I hit ok it just logouts, logs back in (I have auto login on) and tells me the same thing. Basically I need a way to re-create the pagefile.sys. Is there anyway to do this in the recovery console, boot disk, etc. I just need Windows to recreate one so I can get the system back running. I've looked over the net and these forums and haven't found an answer for this question. Thanks!

I haven't had this problem, but I can give an idea that popped into my head...

Boot up with your Win2K CD. When it asks if you want to install or repair Win2K, try "Repair". I don't know what to do after that, so you'll kinda be on your own. When in doubt, cancel.

Good Luck.

The only way out of this situation that I'm aware of is to edit the registry of the original installation by installing a parallel installation of Win2000 to a different folder.
