If the cost is too much, the XBOX 360's are going for pretty cheap now... seriously though, some people are willing to pay for the best. There are many games that need at LEAST this for the best experience especially in 3D.

Msi sells faster in OC mode for $700. Which is a far better deal. This is a way better deal than a NON REF 290x for $600 that doesn't come with 3 AAA games, Gsync or 10c less temps. I'm guessing (based on financials) that NV's drivers won't have a phase 2 this year either...LOL.

A lot of NVIDIA's money comes from the professional market, of which it enjoys about four-fifths of the entire market share. They won't be making a huge amount on the gaming cards. Yes, their drivers are better, but when was the last time that NVIDIA admitted to making a mistake? People with short memories may not remember when a whole slew of their mobile chips were dying. It might be me, but I'd rather have slightly iffy drivers than a dead card. Which reminds me... drivers causing fan issues on more than one occasion...

I'm not going to act like an AMD apologist and say that their coolers are good or anything - 95 degrees may be optimal but a better cooler wouldn't let you hit it at low clocks, nor should the fan need to spin loudly - but I think it's fair to say that both companies are messing up at times. AMD should've spent a little more on a better cooler, but those non-reference cards are making up for it. 95 degrees isn't horrible in an historical sense; check both companies' past records here.

Gsync is nice if you can afford to utilise it. 3 AAA games are nice too, but let's not forget that AMD was doing that recently and will most likely return to the same sort of deal in the near future. Is this 780 Ti worth the $100-150 premium? That's the question worth asking.

Get what you pay for, Ive been gaming at 2560 x 1600 ultra settings in every game for years now. If you have it to spend get it I say. If not stick with medium settings at 1080p and be happy with that simple as it gets.

"750 for a graphics card? I can't believe it!"

"$40,000 for a mercedes? I can't believe it! I got my camry for 2000! What a ripoff!"

That's pretty much what it sounds like. :p

@Littlun Nvidia won't let manufactures add more than 3GB of memory on 780 ti's because they need to have market division between them and the Titan. It makes sense. Usually if you need more memory it's because you do cad or use large textures/renders. (Actual use of a Titan, gaming/productivity) And no game right now uses more than 3GB of vram. The ram is very fast anyway it won't matter.

Also to all the bloody console peasants... Please leave, we don't care that you can buy a P(iece)S(hit)4 or an Xboner for the same price. The pcmasterrace is all about having the ability to be the fastest.

Why? Fanboyism? I would buy from both teams. Right now Nvidia has the cooler and faster GPU so I'd buy from them. The 7970 was cheaper than the 680 for a while so I would've bought from them. Why would you ever buy exclusively from one manufacture?

QUICK - Name 10 games that use more than 3GB...

Failed?

Quick - Name 5...

Quick - Name 2 that run out of memory and are NOT below 30fps already while doing it...See the point?

You will need a faster gpu to get the work done before we need more memory (we need faster gpus today, or SLI/CF wouldn't be needed right?). By the time we tax 3GB you will be running TEENS for fps anyway and need a new gpu...LOL. Or a 2nd gpu? Either way, the problem REALLY doesn't exist, and when it does you will need a new gpu or be well under 30fps. AMD continually slapping 4GB etc on their cards is just robbing themselves of profits and not selling a thing as most in the know have seen all the benchmarks and realize 4GB at this point is just marketing hype. I'm not saying 4GB won't be needed at some point, just that when it is needed all current 4GB cards will likely be running at below 30fps already when memory is an issue. Modding the crap out of skyrim can get you over 3GB but you'll also be running 20fps to prove it can happen :) At which point you either lower the res etc to get above 30fps again (mooting the memory point) or buy a 2nd gpu right now, or wait for 20nm where 4GB may actually be useful as the gpu's then should be able to keep the games hitting that amount above 30fps (I hope).

Why do you care? Maybe he just likes supporting the underdog for the sake of competition? I'd do that myself but my wallet (and gaming) can't afford such decisions. I require the best for my buck these days no matter who it is (but quality drivers etc matter too - and AMD loses here by far for me), but I used to buy and pitch AMD (owned a pc business for 8yrs) over others just for the competition reason alone. Back then though, it really was a great way to go, or I could at least OC to get it to be a great way and catch Intel etc. Today, they are just behind and no amount of OC on their cpu gets me where I want to be, and the watts are just ridiculous. So I'm forced to buy Intel like it or not (living in AZ forces a heat decision too). But I have no problems with others who can make the underdog decision without feeling pain. Without them, if everyone acted like me AMD would be dead already ;)

And neither one can handle lowly 1080p :) At best it's a struggle as we already have seen. You might have an argument if it was BETTER, but that's the point...It's not. Premium price for premium performance. They don't give out Lamborghini's for the price of ford escort. Let me know when either of your shiny new consoles can do 4K :) I can build a PC that can easily do this. The PC can do things a console just can't touch.

I can buy 7 Ouya's for the price of a 780ti. But I'd still rather game on the 780ti...LOL.
