This card has worked well for me for nearly a year. Now it
is giving me fits. It started out with artifacts showing up
in Call Of Duty and lockups during the game. Updated
drivers and tha helped some, but COD was so bad that I
stopped playing it on that PC. Other games play well on it.

In the last two days, almost any visit to the internet using
Exploder results in artifacts, freezing up, and a reboot.
After the reboot, the Windows error reporting says I may
need a new driver. Go to Nvidia, and there is a new driver.
Install and the problem acutall seems worse. Went way
back to 45.03 and still have problem. Not so bad if all
acceleration is turned off...that is it goes longer without
crashing. Tried Mozilla also, thinking Exploder was causing
a problem...same result.

I would suspect the card, but I also run Linux Mandrake 9.2
on the machine and it is solid. No problem at all. Not
sure which drivers. I did have to replace the PS about
three weeks ago, going from 350W to 450W. But the artifacts
started before the PS replacement. and continued after.
The reboots started about three weeks after the PS
replacement. BTW, seems okay in VGA mode.

Ideas? Thanks in advance.

My 1.5 year old PNY Ti4200 just died a couple of weeks ago. I started
having problems booting my computer, then came artifacts and finally it just
stopped working. At one point I thought that cleaning the heatsink and
reseating the card had fixed the problem, but it died a couple days later.
It was about 5 days from start of problem to total failure. Visual
inspection of the card looked like a voltage regulator wasn't mounted very
well and it might have gotten too hot. I RMA'd the card to PNY last week.

If you need to RMA also, PNY's phone number is 1-800-234-4597. They'll send
you a PDF file with a shipping label (has RMA # and barcode) and you'll need
to have a copy of your receipt to ship back with the bad card.

Good Luck.

Now that spring has sprung and temperatures are climbing could it be the
card is overheating? Did it's fan stop spinning or clogged with dust? Load
Cool Bits and underclock it, especially the memory. If that works then
possible the memory went bad.

Thanks for the info. I will try it as I do have the
receipt. About 1 1/4 year old. I read their guarantee,
although it says lifetime guarantee, the way it is worded
lead me to believe that since the card was out of
production, I would be SOL.

Card is in the basement and it is cool down there. Fan is
clear and turning. Plus there is an extraction fan nearby.
Will try the Cool Bits.

Thanks
