Overclock a reference card and call it a day. I hate when companies cannot even bother to launch models with non ref coolers on it.
 
Just go with the cheapest reference design and then deside waht cooler you want. Companies that sell GPUs rearly make good coolers if you compare them to companies that focus on coolers alone (not to mention you get the chance to water cool :D).
 


Bear in mind that this reference cooler was designed for a chip that produces significantly more heat than the 780 and 770 do. The reference cooler is more expensive and better performing than a lot of non-reference coolers we've seen so far.

At least as it sits right now the options to overclock these GTX 700 GPUs are limited because of GPU Boost 2.0 anyway right? so the only real reason an aftermarket cooler matters is if you just want at static temp drop at the stock speeds?
