Pointless upgrade for gpu?

So my friends have said and argued that upgrading from rx 480 8gb red devil to GTX 1070 is pointless with a 1920x1080 60 Hz monitor, they say may as well just get a 1060 is logic behind this? I just don't wanna be wasting my money but am planning on a upgrade in the future to a 1444p or 4k monitor, also they say the human eye can only see 75 fps so there is no point??

Why not just wait until you get a new monitor, and then upgrade your GPU then? By then Vega might be out, or even Nvidia's next line of cards too. Because yes, right now upgrading your GPU is largely pointless.

As an aside, what your friends said about only being able to see up to 75 fps is wrong.

rx 480 is basically the same tier as a 1060, so pointless sidegrade

a 1070 is a very good upgrade, especially if you want 1440p


BUT +1 on the post above keep what you have until you get a new monitor and then decide


especially for 4k, you want AT LEAST a 1080 ti
