Poisoning

I've been trying to posion a lil weapon I got. So far I have only succeded
in failing to apply enough of the poison to the blade and massivlly failing
which resulted in poisoning myself. I have been using greater posioning
potions and my char has a poisioning skill of 50.0. I looked around stratics
to see if there was a chart saying at what level to use what posion, but I
didn't find one. Any suggestions?

I would suggest you switch to poison or even lesser poison. There's a
chart on stratics somewhere but I'm not sure how accurate it is
anymore. However I don't think you should use GP until you're up in
the 80s in Poisoning.

I'm pretty sure you don't need much more then regular poison at that
level. I seem to recall level of poison you use to gain skill being
approximately that of an alchemist to make.

Poisoning did get beat with the nerf bat though. It is almost bad enough
now that I am thinking of dropping it. It used to be one of the only
ways of beating down a dragon. When they made dragons and deamons easy
prey for EVs and summons they gave them the ability to render deadly
poison useless. They usally cure it in less then a second or two now.
Poison is only good on stuff that doesn't cast now, like mongbats and
harpies.

The only reason why I want it is to poison some weapons for my main fighter
char. I'm in a pretty decient size guild on Great Lakes and every other
month we hold tourneys for rank. Needless to say its PvP. But I have a nice
little 30% phys 70% cold cleaver with 44% chance of mana leech. Thought it
might be a handy toy with some poison.

There's a chart in the FAQ at the top of the Stratics Assassin forum. You
shouldn't go up to greater poison until at least 60...should be using normal
poison right now.
